Please Note: advice or drafting of        estate and family law documents are   outside the scope of paralegals,   regardless of how simple they may   be.  If seeking legal assistance for   such matters, you must consult a   lawyer.  A notary can notarize wills,   powers-of-attorney, separation   agreements, etc. but cannot write   or give legal advice on them.

ALERT: February 26, 2025

The Law Society of Ontario has been made aware of a proliferation of online notary services being offered in Ontario. The Notaries Act does NOT permit notaries to exercise their powers without being in the person’s physical presence, unless regulations so provide. To date, no such regulations have been made by the Ontario government. Beware of those who claim they can notarize documents virtually.

Licensees offering online notary services may be subject to regulatory action by the Law Society. Further, documents notarized in this manner may be invalid and may not be useable for their intended purpose.

Commissioning oaths is pemissible online. However, at this time all commissioning and notarizing, done by me, is performed only in person.
